Presentation includes youtube link - the guy is real, but he is not really looking for staff! A fun approach to basic set notation (element, universal set, union, intersection), listing elements and describing sets in words. I've found students typically struggle with this topic and the physical sorting really helps them see what to do. <br /> Created as a revision lesson for my IGCSE Foundation group but would also work at KS3 or as a topic intro for KS4.<br /> Picture included to print (laminate) and cut out the characters for groups of students.

<p>An introduction to fractals starting with working out what Elsa is actually singing in Let It Go followed by a brief video intro to fractals, drawing Sierpinski triangles on isometric paper and finally creating a pop-up fractal card.<br /> I used this over 2 lessons with a low-attaining Year 9 group in the last week of term. Could easily be used across the KS3/4 age and attainment range. Made for Edexcel A level Further Maths Decision 1 - Section 2.2 Graph Theory</p> <p>Not fancy, but I couldn’t find similar out there and they need the vocab!</p> <p>I would recommend the game <a href="https://nrich.maths.org/1208" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">sprouts</a> as a fun way to apply this and the <a href="https://teacher.desmos.com/polygraph/custom/5da626f986530961aea8a310?collections=5d2283e1da9d323718848965" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Desmos polygraph</a> to practise using the vocabulary.</p>

<p>Students work in pairs to sort integers into a variety of Venn diagrams. The aim is to become familiar with the symbols for greater than (/and equal to), less than (/and equal to).<br /> Options to use outside (with chalk and a flat floor) or inside (on paper).<br /> Note the ‘deliberate mistake’ on the last Venn; the notation means there are no possible values in the red set. I’ve seen students attempt to represent two separate regions like this many times, so included it as a discussion point.</p>
