Baseline assessment for Art

I've revised and updated my baseline test to include measuring across the four main attainment areas of Making Skills, Ideas, Knowledge and Evaluation. My test takes only one lesson to complete plus one homework task and marking is done in the lesson itself. I've used this test for years and I know it works well. I was a member of the NSEAD Curriculum Writing Group that wrote the curriculum competencies, more formally called the: 'Framework for Progression, Planning for Learning, Assessment, Recording and Reporting 2014.’ For more fantastic art resources visit my TES store https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/paulcarney700

Baseline Assessment English Language KS3 KS4

(4)
This English language baseline assessment has been designed to work flexibly across both KS3 and KS4. I developed it for my own school in order decide upon the best qualification pathway to place our students on: GCSE English lanaguage or Step Up to English. I created the assessment grid to match the GCSE 9-1 course. Files included: English Language Baseline Assessment for KS3 and KS4. English Language Baseline Assessment Mark Scheme. Assessment Marking Grid. Lesson duration: 1 hour and 45 minutes. Why purchase me? I am being used successfully in a pupil referral unit as I am highly engaging. I have been broken down into accessible steps whilst maintaining a high level of challenge. I am especially useful for informing decisions regarding the placement of students onto suitable English qualification pathways. Suggested general guide to pathways: less than or equal to 1, consider Step Up to English Silver pathway in order to build graduated steps to achievement. greater than 1 but less than 2, consider Step Up to English Gold pathway in order to build graduated steps to achievement and prepare for the demands at GCSE level. greater than 2, consider direct entry onto the GCSE English Language pathway.

Fun Baseline Assessment for years 7 and 8.

I have uploaded the baseline assessment I use for the very first lesson for year 7 and 8 and their exit lesson towards the end of the academic year. The assessment for year 7 covers some generic music theory knowledge from note identification, to instrument identification both written and aurally, descriptions of elements of music and other listening activities. The assessment for year 8 covers similar material but this time it is not testing what they know but testing what they should have learnt in year 7. It goes through the theoretical side like the year 7 assessment but also reflects on last years topics. Obviously this is specific to my SoW but there is nothing stopping you quickly altering that section, only a 5 minute job :-) This download also comes with a teacher guide with the answers, great if you have a new starter or long term supply. Some of the listening questions will require you to create the musical material. For instance, identifying if the music gets louder or quieter or stays the same. This can easily be done with some simple chords. Finally I use active inspire and so have included the instrument listening and extended questions in the flip chart. Enjoy :-)

Baseline Assessment for year 7

This baseline assessment can be used for year 7 at any point during the school year. Could be a useful tool for differentiation at the start of the year, or even as a summative or formative assessment part way through the year. This assessment covers the following areas which are commonly taught within the curriculum in year 7, but could be adapted for a more bespoke assessment: Basic Skills - formal elements; Colour theory - knowledge and key words; Space and shape - problem solving and imagination; African Art - comprehension, colour and pattern; Surrealism - proportion, shape and observation. This paper can be marked by the teacher and used to plan and sequence future lessons on basic skills.

KS3 SEND English Assessment Pack (baseline/end of year)

(1)
Here’s a set of three KS3 assessments for SEND students. They each come with a respective mark scheme that is thorough and can be used confidently by non-English specialists. You could use them to baseline or as an end-of-year test. They are very visual and autism-friendly. I wrote them to take into account the very broad range of levels in our school and to minimise stress, whilst going some way to prepare them for the papers they will eventually experience. They assess reading and writing. In terms of ability, I refer to the old NC levels below as our school’s won’t make sense to anyone outside of it! Paper 1: P7-L1 or thereabouts. (similar in format to an EL1 Functional Skills paper) Paper 2: L2-L6 (similar to an Entry Level Certificate) Paper 3: L7+ (a much-simplified GCSE structure) They are easily tweaked and changed so you can edit them how you like. I hope they will save you an awful lot of time!

This is a very episodic scheme that I am currently using with Year 7 to introduce them to Drama and some of the basic skills needed to progress. It is still a work in progress but hopefully it comes as some use to some of you!
