The perfect resource for windy weather! Art ideas that can be enjoyed in the wind - kites, windmills, paper planes. Also a Monet artist focus - looking at how he portrayed wind in some of his great masterpieces.
This is a powerpoint i use in KS3 on Matisse. It goes through lesson by lesson with tasks assessment and questioning and modeled examples. Students paint with scissors and create a collage inspired by Matisse. Please leave feedback if you find this useful.
You can print these as posters or as postcards, just by adjusting the settings on the print page from whole page to multiple.
The Challenge cards work really well with Year 11 when they are struggling to put into words why a piece of work by another artist has inspired them. They can choose their own level of challenge.

How to manipulate students (in a good way) to achieve the outcome that you want.
A Pivotal Education Resource.
This is a working document to highlight and pinpoint what needs to be done , analysed and provided for the Art topics for the Primary school year. What is needed in one area, will also affect other aspects of the provision.
It is helpful to coordinate that whole vision for the immediate future and ensure excellent provision of Art skills and concepts.
This series of lessons has some resources for use over a three or four week period. It includes a mapping document; a four week overview; a three week planning sequence; a powerpoint of Art work produced and some pupils self-assessment remarks... Everything is flexible and is not meant to be a definitive pattern.
It is best if children can work as independently as possible and learn the skills they need, as they themselves see the need.
Mrs. Sides has got to like it....
A brief PowerPoint presentation to introduce Aboriginal art.
The presentation touches on origin, style and purpose along with mentioning how colours, patterns and symbols are used in Aboriginal art.
Suitable for KS1 and KS2 but, it could be used with any age group where a simple introduction to Aboriginal art is required.
This question bank provides a solid base for anyone discussing art with primary or secondary children.
If you’re not an art teacher, or if art isn’t really your “thing”, it can be hard to start and sustain a conversation about a piece of artwork. These questions provide a starting point to stimulate discussion.
Don’t go overboard and try and use all the questions at once - for a really meaningful discussion, stick with just a few.
They are organised so that you can ask questions just from a single angle (Describe it, Relate it, Analyse it etc) or you can meander through the groups as you see fit.
It’s not an exhaustive list! I’ll be creating more lists in the coming weeks.
This resource includes words within categories that can be printed and put in a box for students to select 1 word at a time out the box, then draw as the rest of the group guess one at a time. (I make the rule that students can only guess if they put their hand up).
This activity can also be personalised to any curriculum area, as the words can be changed to fit the keywords of any subject, to test understanding.
