Lesson 1: Drugs - A fully differentiated and resourced lesson that assists students in learning about the effects of drugs on health and behaviour. Students will state what is meant by a drug, describe the difference between recreational and medicinal drugs, and describe the effects of drugs on health and behaviour.
Lesson 2: Alcohol - A fully differentiated and resourced lesson that assists students in learning about the effects of alcohol on health and behaviour. Students will state what drug ethanol is, describe the effect of alcohol on health and behaviour, and describe the effect alcohol has on conception and pregnancy.
Lesson 3: Smoking - A fully differentiated and resourced lesson that assists students in learning about the effects of smoking on health. Students will state what’s in tobacco smoke, describe the effects of tobacco smoke on health, and explain how smoking can cause disease.
This bundle comes complete with detailed and engaging lesson PowerPoints, differentiated activities, worksheets, information sheets and quizzes for students to complete.
This resource is part of the Health and lifestyle topic and has been created for the delivery of the Activate KS3 Science course. Also great for GCSE Science and PSHE lessons.

Drugs, Alcohol and Religious Attitudes
What is a drug? What are the categories of drugs? What do religious believers believe about drugs?
At least 2 lessons of work here about Drugs, Alcohol and Religious Attitudes to Substance abuse to help students understand the dangers of substance abuse.
The Powerpoints include an embedded video from Teacher TV about alcohol abuse (which is really good!) and there's plenty of activities to explore with them.
A bonus lesson here too debating legalisation and decriminalisation of cannabis.
Drugs - Illegal Drugs PSHE
2026 TWO HOUR New RSHE guidelines compliant lesson (see lesson plan included for details) introducing drugs. Students discover the difference between illegal and legal drugs (and why this is under UK law), as well as investigate in more detail Class A, B and C drugs such as cocaine, cannabis, ecstasy, nitrous oxide, mushrooms, amphetamines and much more. They will uncover the devastating effects some drugs have on communities and individual lives, as well as the debate around cannabis, and why some drugs are legal in some countries whilst not in others. Drugs + Alcohol - Cendrillon Song
Song in French from the group Telephone from the mid 80s about the problems of drugs and alcohol in society, theme of single mothers too.
I used this as a promotion for A-level with my Y11 class. It was just a one off but there is potential to develop it with other themes... Walt Disney cartoons for children, fairy tales and creative writing...
The first page is a gap fill from the song and the second one has some pictures to order as you hear the description from the song.

Drugs - Alcohol, Illegal Drugs + Parties PSHE
Drugs, festivals, clubbing and parties - an hour long, fully-resourced, detailed and differentiated PSHE lesson, created specifically for the new PSHE + RSE 2020-22 guidelines. The lesson covers the extra vigilance students need to take when attending their first festivals, parties and starting to go clubbing. It explains the dangers and risks associated with drug culture, from personal safety and health risks to sexual ones. It also have a focus on the nitrous oxide craze (laughing gas / nos), harm reduction and where students can go for further help.
The lesson includes a detailed PowerPoint, information pack, differentiated activities, clips tasks with questions and a literacy / debate focus task. These resources have been designed to be engaging, detailed and easy to follow.

2 HOURS - Fits new 2026 RSHE guidelines (see lesson plan included for details)- An in-depth look at County Lines, who is at risk and how young people and the vulnerable are exploited. Students will uncover the dark truth behind the gang lifestyle, looking at some of Britain’s most notorious gangs, assessing the recent successes of the police in smashing the system and making arrests. The lesson covers how gangs lure young people in, what it means to be a mule and the penalties gang members have faced for violence, drug dealing and weapon-trading.
Students will explore how County Lines exploitation often affects males and females differently, how the vulnerable are turned into ‘cuckoos’, where to go for help if gangs touch our own lives in any way and much more.

Christian Attitudes to Drugs and Alcohol
This lesson explains Chrsitan attitudes towards drugs and alcohol using Christian teachings, UK law and morality to explain what the attitudes are and how they developed.
This is a well resourced lesson that is suitable to be used in RE, citizehship or PSHE.
It can easily be adapted for different year groups, although it is Primarily aimed at GCSE students.
