The whole-group presentations are non-editable for copyright reasons, but move forward via a click as a slide show, with all the rhymes and corresponding sounds grouped together - I often use these at the beginning of the lesson, or a 5-minute pronunciation and speaking break during a lesson, again at very regular intervals. I always encourage students to look carefully at all parts of a particular word, not just the focus sound: for example erreicht - the focus sound is ei, but the ch sound is equally important. The resource works well for my German students at all stages of learning, from beginner to advanced. This pack contains spelling sheets for all the Tricky words from phase 2 to 5. They are similar to the look, cover, write, check but with a twist. Pupils get to practice the writing in different ways such as joining the dots, rainbow writing and colourful writing before covering and having a go.

This pack contains 18 spelling cards (two per each page) that can be used as part of a spelling/ phonics intervention, starter, plenary or as part of a planned lesson. This pack contains the words that my students have consistently struggled to spell. Each card contains three sections: Make - Students have to make the word out of Play-Doe, sand, etc within the outline provided. Look- The word is then used in a sentence with an image. Write- Students write the word between the handwriting guide lines. Write- Students write the word without the help of the guide lines. These cards should be printed, cut out and then laminated in order for them to be re-used. All you will need is a dry-wipe pen and a tub of Play-Doh (or similar.) This activity works well as a more active alternative to the standard ‘look, cover, write’ method of teaching spellings.
