Rules and Laws KS2 PSHE Lesson. A one hour-long, very detailed, fully resourced PSHE lesson suitable for KS2. This lesson has been created for Year 3, however, the resource is suitable for use across KS2. In this lesson, the students will explore the concept of rules and laws. We will discuss what rules are, why we have them, and what the difference is between a rule and a law. We will discuss the consequences of failing to obey the rules at home or in the classroom, and reflect on how this differs from punishments for breaking the law. The lesson also includes an information sheet, a key term match up task, a video clip task, a set of discussion cards, and a plenary activity. Created to fit the new DfE and PSHE Association statutory 2020 /21 guidelines, the lesson includes a detailed PowerPoint, all editable with accompanying tasks and worksheets. The lesson has been left editable and is filled with engaging, well differentiated and fun activities. It is designed to be ‘no prep’, so you can just pick it up and use it, although it is still adaptable should you wish to. Who are EC Resources? A fully-resourced lesson which serves as an introduction to social justice. Students will explore the concept of social justice, its link to human rights and why it’s needed, before examining recent campaigns and the progress being made by the social justice movement. They will also explore objections to what some call ‘social justice warriors’ and whether social justice is backed up by religious ideas, by analysing quotes - the lesson has been created for RE, but would be useful as a Citizenship / interesting Drop Down Day session too. A number of religions and religious quotes will be examined throughout the lesson, with the most detailed focus on Christianity, Islam and Judaism. Suitable for KS3 / KS4 and editable, so easy to adapt. The lesson includes a detailed PowerPoint, detailed information sheets, differentiated challenge activities and worksheets, clips tasks with questions and a literacy / debate focus task. This lesson was prepared for the year 11 Citizenship students (AQA full course). This lesson is on the topic of Fairness, Justice and Law: Human rights in UK. It includes settler, starter, learning objectives/keywords introduction slide, a quick match-up activity to revise some keywords, the slide with information on the Human Rights Act 1998, some activities for discussion of the latter (I especially like the activity where they have to guess the rights!) and exam practice materials. The latter is an example of a part B question (4 c) with a model answer and success criteria, followed up by the self-assessment slide. The presentation ends with a cartoon for a plenary discussion.
