Animal Noise Meter

This noise meter features 4 noise levels for your class to follow. The first page is a poster that can be stuck up to remind your class of the different levels. The last four pages can by cut out so that you can hold up or hang up the level that you want your class to be at. There are four noise levels. These include silent snails, whisper whales, partner parrot, and loud and proud lions. My class loved using actions to represent the different animal sound levels such as snail antennae for silent snails, a whale spout for whisper whales, patting their shoulder for partner parrot, and roaring like a lion for loud and proud lion.

Back to School : Noise-O-Meter This is a great visual way of letting your class know just how loud they are!! This visual PowerPoint can be used with your classes for noise management. There are instructions in the PPT on how to use this INTERACTIVE resource. Please note, This doesn't automatically measure the noise levels within the classroom. It is for the teacher to determine whether the noise levels are acceptable and to click the appropriate segment for the relevant message to be displayed. Please leave a comment if you have the time, it would be much appreciated. Why Not follow us on Facebook: Teach Elite

Adapted from an idea in Bill Rogers Classroom Behaviour book. It’ll all make sense when you download it, but i’ve done each bit on a different page and then you glue/sellotape them in a square and put the circle in the middle and then attach the arrow with a split pin/blue tack. I’ve put what it should look like on the last page. I’ve found it v. good with KS1 in particular.

Noise Banner

Includes 20 variations of the banner for different classroom themes! -polka dot -metalwork -tropical -hessian -marble -rainbow -pastel and more! Cut out these banners and stick each letter to the board with blutac. When the noise level is too high, remove a letter, beginning with the E. Keep removing letters as needed, until you are left with NO. Then the children will need to work in silence. If the disruption continues, flip the O to reveal a “playtime minute deduction” of your choice. Do the same with N. We almost never need to use the minute deductions! Great classroom management tool!

Noise-o-Meter Volume Display (editable)

A simple visual aid to help children understand expectations for an upcoming learning session. I paired this with a big cardboard arrow to signal our level, but can also be used with happy/sad faces, a dial or a level. For upper stages, picking a ‘Volume Champion’ to set and help monitor volume levels can help with behaviour management and offer student responsibility and accountability. An PDF version of this is also available for free!
