Bubble Writing - Handwriting Scaffold LKS2

(33)
Bubble writing - cursive handwriting scaffold Like many primary school teachers I have tried a variety of handwriting schemes with varying degrees of success. Having thought through many common problems with handwriting I have developed a simple scaffold that places a bubble either side of the line to support letter formation. This simple scaffold provides a guide to consistently form cursive letters and ensure each letter is uniform in both height and width. Children are able to leave equal spaces between words and see clearly whether or not there is enough space at the end of each line for the next word they intend to write. There has been a huge impact within my class in a very short space of time and I hope you will see similar benefits within your own setting. Included is a PowerPoint presentation including words from the Year 3/4 spelling list that can be printed as a handwriting pack for children to work through. Blank slides enable you to add words to suit your needs and finally 2 different sized PDF scaffolds that children can use to write on (If photocopied the bubbles will disappear to leave the writing that has been completed.)

MUSIC GENRES CALENDAR 2024-25

(2)
This is the 3rd Year of the calendar and still at its simplest level the purpose of this calendar is to offer a wide-ranging selection of music: different styles, genres, origins, artists, historical periods and so on. As part of an interesting and robust music curriculum, children need to hear and experience music and musical styles and artists that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to hear. The idea was to create a calendar of a song a day. 190 school days… 190 songs. (+2 for those with different school schudeules) These songs could be used in whatever way the user thinks best – on entry to the classroom in the morning, as assembly music, as a calming session after breaktimes of lunchtimes, or as an introduction to a music lesson. This resource includes this year’s calendar ONLY. The previous versions are still available This year I am asking a fee of £3, for a complete resource that will last you all year. I am proud of the product and feel that for the extensive hours spent creating it £3 is well worth it!

GCSE MUSIC – KEY MUSICAL ELEMENTS This 36-page PPT is a great way to kick off the GCSE course, providing an accessible introduction to (or refresher of!) key musical elements: Pulse Metre (including regular and irregular) Rhythm (including syncopation, off-beat rhythms, dotted rhythms and triplets) Chords (including triads and inversions) Melody-writing Basic arranging for ensemble It is expected that most students will have encountered many of these at Key Stage 3, and so whilst this PPT can act as an introduction with clear explanations, it can also act as a useful refresher, with the exercises very much aimed at Key Stage 4. Students will need access to keyboard or guitars, and notation software or manuscript paper. Please have a look at my other GCSE Music resources. Thank you!

For this week we have our children part time so our plan is much more simplified. There are circle time ideas and adult-led activities to support baseline assessments through age-appropriate activities. There are also a range of continuous provision enhancements to engage children and again, hit some of your baseline assessments through play - none of that RBA iPad assessing here! Weekly Theme: Starting School Focus Book: The Colour Monster Goes to School* I know that there is some controversy regarding using the Colour Monster due to the black colour monster being associated with fear. In this version of the Colour Monster, the black colour monster only appears once. There is no reference to black representing fear but the words spooky and scary are used on the same page as the visual of the black colour monster. In our book we have coloured over him in grey paint. In the activities that we set out in class, we have removed the black monster entirely. We have chosen to continue to use this book as the children engage well with it, it approaches the subject of starting school well and promotes good conversations with our young learners.
