This is a test designed as a base line for year 7 students to assess various skills that are needed across all D&T subjects. Marks scheme also included.

A page by page guide to completing a controlled assessment folder for GCSE Product Design. This has been designed for the AQA specification but I am sure it could be adapted. This booklet has helped me successfully support students of all abilities and it has received praise from staff and assessors.

This grid was created for a move at my school to a life without levels at KS3. It is based on the DATA PoS audit but simplified massively .This grid includes:

An audit spreadsheet to review current projects and the objectives they cover.

A master assessment grid to cover all KS3 Design & Technology

An example grid for a single project

This is a skills based practical project that guides the students to make a sweet dispenser. No creativity just learning skills and processes. A nice product that can be differentiated based on skill levels of students.

SOW, PowerPoint presentation and technical drawings all included.

A contract that allows Health and Safety and training to be tracked easily for workshop students. Can be adapted for food and textiles. I use this with a stamp that has the date on it so the training can be stamped when done.

Also has a behaviour contract to read and sign by the students to re-iterate importance of taking responsibility for own actions.

A complete KS3 Design & Technology project that develops basic knowledge of materials and processes. It involves the manufacture of an Acrylic, Pine and Pewter set of key fobs. Using casting, press forming and hand skills. Students also make a key house to hold their keys which focuses on using technical drawings and shaping Acrylic with a strip heater.

It has been created using the DATA KS3 skills audits as a starting point but uses my own Assessment Criteria grid based on the ‘Life without Levels’ programme.

CAD/CAM, 2D Design, workshop skills are also integrated.

My students love this project and can be used flexibly to fit the length of rotations you have or number of lessons you have a week.

The Powerpoint is very large so I have compressed it. All videos should work though and the quality has not been affected.

10 homework sheets for design & technology students, requiring them to learn and define a wide range of keywords and subject specific terminology.

This is an editable Screwfix themed homework catalogue that is designed to put the emphasis on independent learning and giving the students options for homework tasks. I have linked it to a classroom competition too as each tasks has a point weighting. Students like the choice and it can get quite competitive!

A quiz I designed to review the knowledge of my Graphics Year 9 group. I did it in teams with the winners getting one of my 'Geek' Medals (see my other resources.
This is a hand written sheet that has two example tests from imaginary pupils. Each test has right and wrong answers. Pupils have to mark each test and write corrections. I also asked my pupils to make a comment to encourage each student.
