New GCSE Paper 1: Writing to Describe Toolbox. Effective examples and techniques to try.

(1)
Here is a clear step by step method of how to write to describe for the new GCSE. This mainly focuses on writing inspired from an image. The PPT guides you through the toolbox of techniques and how to plan for this question. Images, exemplars, mark schemes and helpful hint slides are included. This has successfully been used with GCSE students of all abilities but I also (as we are prepping them earlier and earlier) adapted this and used this with lower school. I created this because I found that their writing was so literal and predictable. As you go through the lessons, you can give the students short writing bursts that you can over the shoulder mark or peer assess. At the end, they should learn the formula and produce a sustained and planned piece of writing.
