This is a simple powerpoint which I have put together to use with my KS3 tutor group to explain to them the basics of the May 2015 General Election. This is a powerpoint of visual images to use as a starter to engage students. I have used it successfully with KS3 and KS4 as a competitive hands up no shouting out starter. Gets them thinking and attentive ready for rest of lesson. Can be used for any subject to get attention! I have also uploaded a Part Two which is slightly harder but uses same format of Say What You See of UK Place names.

A worksheet to revise why punctuation is important looking particularly at full stops, commas and speech marks. Students have ability to challenge themselves to use more punctuation. You can also adapt this lesson to create more of a challenge. Story of Red Riding Hood is used to engage students and the end task is that they write an ending of their own using the new skills of punctuation they have learnt.

I got the basis of this lesson from TES and reworked it to use images and get students to work in groups. I explained the basic 5 aspects. Students then formed groups and got given 1 aspect each. They moved into groups where each of 5 aspects represented. Shared knowledge. Then given film stills on sugar paper and had to identify all 5 aspects. Feedback to class discussion. Finally a PEE paragraph on which of the 5 aspects they felt was the most effective in the film still they had received.

This presentation explains why people went on crusades and attempts to link to students own lives to make it relevant and for them to understand. You will need to create your own worksheet to link with this powerpoint.

This is a presentation which provides students with visual knowledge of a Sikh Gurdwara and they are then asked to create their own design which must include the key elements as stated. Lots of images to encourage debate and discussion. Can be used high ability KS2 and KS3 with good effect. Students engage with the activity and can work in groups, pairs or individually.

This resource is designed to be complete for teaching about the ten Gurus. Worksheets and starter activity are provided.

This is a sorting activity. Students are given 9 causes of the Great Depression in USA and are asked to sort them into a Diamond 9 shape. They are able to rank in anyway that they chose as long as they can reason why they have done it. Students can also add their own causes if they chose. This allows creativity within the class and creates differentiation too as you can simplify some of these causes if required or leave them out completely and students create their own.

This is a starter you can use as a starter or plenary to test students knowledge of keywords linked with river features. It is based on the game of Catchphrase, i.e. say what you see. It is good to engage students or test knowledge about the subject.

A lesson to teach about the Sikh celebration of Guru Nanak's birthday.

This is a 6x6 Learning Grid of activities ranging from reading; discussion; creative activities and pair work to use in Library lessons at KS2 and KS3. Use with a dice and students work in table groups to find activities to work on for 10+minutes at a time.<br /> <br /> I have always found it difficult to set work for library lessons but with this grid I have provided 36 activities which students chance upon themselves with a roll of a dice. These have been proving very popular among students at my school as they have the control and choice of what they are doing for the lesson.

These dominoes can be used as part of a lesson to check understanding of keywords and terms that students have learnt about the Sikh faith. Students match their keyword with the definition in a big game of dominoes which can be played as a whole class or as a matching game or print off the game to be played in pairs or small groups.
