Merchant of Venice Worksheets

(11)
These were used with a mid-low ability Y10 class. The worksheets are key sections of the text with guided questions. I used these in class and then went through answers, but they could also be used for stand-alone revision purposes or cover lesson material. I have included the lesson slides, but this is mostly just so that the lesson objectives and starter activities can be seen (you'll quickly notice that most of the lessons follow the same format.) The post-it note plenary tasks were designed to have a running summary of the development of each main character. I put these together after seeing someone else on TES who had done one of the key scenes in this format. I found it really useful, especially as all the formatting in Word had already been done for me, so I hope that others also find at least some of these helpful.

OCR Conflict Poetry (Towards a World Unknown)

These were used with a mid-low ability Y10 class. For each OCR Conflict poem is a question sheet and a copy of the poem for students to annotate on. I have also included the lesson that went with for starter activities, context information and plenary paragraphs, but the main bulk of each lesson is around the students answering the questions. Some of the lesson slides come from other TES contributors, particularly Destruction of Sennacherib that has to be credited to iCreatEd.

OCR Communicating Information and Ideas - full paper

Communicating Information and Ideas paper - full reading and writing questions. Useful for in class practice (both example texts are shorter than the real exam would have and both are modern (ish) texts - it does not fulfill the 19th century requirement.) Full Caitlin Moran article also attached for wider reference.

These booklets were designed to support the teaching of mid ability students working towards the OCR 9-1 English Literature GCSE spec (Paper 1: Modern Prose/Drama). However, they could probably be adapted to other exam boards with a bit of tweaking.

These lessons were designed to help students mid to weak ability students create sensible, logical comparisons between poems. Could be easily adapted to other poems or non-fiction texts. Originally designed for Y9/Y10 students completing the OCR 9-1 GCSE spec.
