Speed reading of key and high frequency words, There is one activity sheet for Years 1/2 of high frequency words and a further sixteen sheets for Years 4/5. There are ten words on each sheet which are repeated across five columns in random order. At the bottom of the sheet there is a space for children to record the time it takes to read the whole sheet. <br /> <br /> I have found when I have done this as 1:1 activity, children love seeing how much quicker they get each time they read over the week. Each sheet consists of a multiplication set eg 8x on it. Each of the rows on the table has the multiplication from 2x to 10x. The first row is in order and the following eight rows are randomly placed. On this sheet, children have to complete the answers themselves. These can be used alongside the other set of tables (uploaded separately).<br /> <br /> I have found that children are happy to sit with a stop watch and time themselves. They can then see how much quicker they get each time. <br /> <br /> This really does work! This is a great resource. A set of long vowel sound speed read sheets. There are nine sheets altogether. The first five are mixed long vowel sounds, the final four are specific to each vowel sound ie first is long vowel 'a' and so on. There are ten words on each sheet repeated over four additional columns. Children read each word going down the first column and then carry across the page until all five columns are read.
