This booklet has 3 sections and is aimed at Foundation GCSE students. Section 1 gives hints and tips on how certain functional questions should be set out and attempted. There is a hint and tips section and space for a solution. Section 2 has similar questions but this time does not guide the students, helping them to become more independent. The third section is optional for the teacher to copy and paste exam questions for pupils to attempt. Hope this helps with the 'dreaded' functional questions.

Pupils arranged in groups of 4 take it turns to be showdown captain and select the top card from a pile of 16 question cards graded D and C from the centre of the table. Pupils, including the captain, then simultaneously answer each question within a time limit and then peer assess each other's work and coach each other if pupils are struggling. The showdown captain then changes for the next round/question and the time limit and process starts again. Ideal for a general revision lesson/revision day activity .

A ready printable (duplex) quiz quiz trade card game based around the rules of surds. The good thing about this is that it does not follow the usual format of the question and answer being on the same side of the card and, therefore, hidden from the person answering - instead, the pupil answering gets to SEE the question but the answer is hidden on the other side so that the other pupil can use 'tip,tip,tell' to guide them towards the answer.

This is a resource designed to raise discussions using averages about which driving instructor to choose from a newspaper advert based on the number of hours that students take to pass with each driving instructor. Students should choose the best instructor using averages as well as advise on which average would be best for the instructor to use to promote themselves. Students could also present their findings to the class or think about other things to take into account such as cost, experience and consistency.
