Mock English Paper, New Style, Perse Upper School

This three page PDF contains an English mock paper for pupils sitting the entrance assessments (11+ and 13+) at The Perse Upper School in Cambridge. It includes instructions to candidates and a suggested mark scheme. In 2001, The Perse changed the assessment style they use for English from a traditional two-part test comprising of comprehension questions and an essay, to a single task requiring pupils to read and continue a text extract in a way that demonstrates their understanding and other key skills. Based on my extensive experience as an independent schoolteacher and tutor in the Cambridge area, this document enables teachers, tutors and parents to provide further practice for pupils in this new test style. This is part 3 of a series of resources written to support pupils taking entrance tests to independent schools.
