Could be used with KS2, KS3 and ECDL students. Could be used as a computer-based starter, a settling-in task, as part of an induction lesson or even as cover if you are ill. Your students will need access to the Internet in order to complete these tasks.

A resource suitable for introducing types of software. No previous knowledge needed just general knowledge. This is not an exhaustive or complete list of all operating system software or application software. This is meant as an introduction only. I used the slideshow to discuss with the pupils, gauge their prior knowledge and to address any misconceptions.

Common misconceptions of students include mixing up types of software with names of software e.g. when asked to name types of software they will answer Microsoft Word etc... when the answers should include Application Software etc...)

All answers to the document are in the slideshow so you could provide it to the pupils, however I preferred to allow the pupils research the answers themselves on the Internet.
