This a a 12 week project around the theme ‘Insects’. It is a KS3 project and aims to build upon the basic skills introduced at the start of the year.

A ten week project where pupils investigate Inuit art and the iconogrpahy around the Inuit culture. This project continues to build up page design, basic shapes and mark making while introducing basic painting and paper cut techniques.

This project could be easily adapted into a lino print project. It was originally created when I moved to a school with very limited resources.
A 10 week project that looks at three different artists.
Wassily Kandinsky, Roy Lichtenstein and Friedrich Hunterwasser.
Pupils will identify the visual characteristics of each artist and then apply then to their own design.
The final part of the project looks at the pupils interpreting a chosen artists characteristics to create a portrait in their style.

This project develops the pupils understanding of visual literacy and how through signifiers of colour and shape and communicate meaning.
Starting off with discussions about logos and branding, it moves onto character design finishing off with propaganda posters. All of this around the theme of superheroes.

This is one of my favourite projects to teach as it ties in very strongly with real world experience, opening up for lots of discussion, while allowing the pupils to stretch their creativity.
Initially this was a full term project but it has been heavily adapted for homelearning.
Resource sheets have been included but are not necessary for home learning.
This is the second lesson the visual literacy project. This lesson develops on from the discussion of how companies use colour to communicate meaning to discussing the symbolic meanings of images. Video version with narration is also included
