I made this resource many moons ago and still use it today. It hooks children in straight away as they like seeing new pictures. Most gifs are animated and there are enough pictures to work through for each school day.

I also have a good afternoon/welcome version also- please do have a look and leave feedback if there is anything I can improve/change.

I have made many ppt presentations similar to these with the same idea- pictures on screen to say good morning/afternoon.

Inspired by an author on TES- J Warburton . My class love a riddle so I created many more using the format many years ago. I still use them today and they are just as loved. Answers are included on each slide.

Three simple challenges as Christmas activities.

Make a reindeer

Design a festive house (house template on slides)

Create Jingle Bells using GarageBand app

As this is on PowerPoint, it can be adapted/changed to suit the needs of your classes.

Merry Christmas!

Some challenges I made for my class to complete and attempt if they finish their work early. Challenges can be changed according to the needs of your class. These can be used so that grammar skills are practiced regularly. Skills such as up-leveling simple sentences by adding adjectives, adverbs, time adverbials, conjunctions and better vocabulary. Correcting apostrophes and was/were are included as are correcting articles.

I usually print out and leave them in a challenge box. The children help themselves sometimes and other times I choose the challenge for them.
Hope it helps you and your class.
Please do leave feedback so I can improve the resource.
Many thanks.

I was inspired by a maths treasure hunt I have seen on TES by Beckie- Stevie. This is a words in context/vocabulary treasure hunt. I printed these on paper (worked fine) and stuck them around the hall. Different colour on a different day. Children can either write down what the word means in context, or a suitable synonym. The children were very engaged, and I heard great conversations as a result. The lilac cards are very challenging on purpose, as there are children in our school, who need to be really challenged! I think the activity really forced children to read around the word, replace words etc. I asked the children to work independently, however this could be a paired activity as well. I have attached a basic answer sheet you could use. Partners can be split and then they can compare their answers at the end of the activity. The activity will easily last an hour (muddle the order you stick them up in). I used the google dictionary to go through answers. It was good because at a glance the children were able to see the definition, see the word used in a sentence and they were also able to see synonyms. Happy SATs revising to all us crazy Year 6 teachers!!

Revision aid for Year 6 sats reading paper. Question stems and what the answer should look like. Printed onto card back to back. Gets children talking and thinking about their answers.
Word doc so can be adapted.

I’m currently using this as revision for my ever so tired Year 6s. Different topic areas covered. Can be used as a quiz, teaching points, starters, plenaries. Children very engaged although they are tired! Hope it is useful. Just bunched together a few sats questions from past papers over the years.
