<p>A full breakdown of the reading questions for English Language paper 1 Reading 2023- Life of Pi.</p> <p>Using my knowledge as an examiner for this examination and feedback from AQA sessions, I have created full feedback lessons aimed at getting students into Level 3 on the mark scheme. All questions include some form of model answer either at level 3 or examples of level 2 with suggestions on how it can be improved.<br /> It includes suggested processes recommended by AQA on what students needed to improve on such as unfolding quotations properly and ideas.</p>

<p>This resource is designed around the AQA English Language Paper 1 Reading section. The extract is from The Jungle Book and is designed to introduce the reading section of the exam to middle ability students in Year 10.</p> <p>The lessons guide students through each of the questions, with how to approach them and answer them and what an examiner may be looking for in order to get into a Level 3 response. I have created all the model answers myself and included top tips for each question. It is designed to run across a number of lesson. It could be adapted for higher ability and also used for lower ability to push into a level 2.</p> <p>The extract is taken from an AQA revision book. The extract is where Mowgli traps and kills Shere Khan.</p>

The lesson explores ideas about how a writer develops a villainous character and how a writer’s choice of language helps to form certain ideas for a reader. The lesson includes example language analysis to go through as a model with the class; challenge questions and tasks; support thoughts and sentence starters for scaffolding and key word definitions. This lesson was aimed at a top set Year 7, who were studying heroes and villains within Literature. This lesson was designed for a double lesson.</p>

<p>A lesson based on the Cratchit family in A Christmas Carol but with a language based focus. The lesson explores the AQA Language paper 1, question 4 evaluation question. The full lesson and resources are included. This was aimed for a set 2 Year 10 and including writing an answer it covered 2 lessons.</p> <p>*This is based on the students having read A Christmas Carol or at least Stave 3; it was an added extra lesson to a Literature programme of study, in which students could be reminded of some language based questions/skills. It could be adapted by giving students an extract from Stave 3 (where the Cratchits are around the fire at Christmas) instead of the suggested quotes which run through all of the section involving the Cratchit family.</p>
