<p>Literacy unit - fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty based on Phillip Pullman’s Grimm tales Briar Rose.<br />
Using the story of Sleep Beauty, this unit teaches the skills needed to write an invitation letter.</p>
<p>Over the 2 weeks there are focused grammar lessons using my own inviation example inviting the fairies to the wedding of Sleeping Beauty.<br />
Planned for year 3 working above age related expectations. Can be easily adapted. There are 3 different flip charts for week 2 depending on time during that week.<br />
Outcome: to write own invitation to the royal wedding</p>

These 4 lesson look at some higher level poetic devices such as similes, metaphors, repetition/refrain, hyperbole/exaggeration, Pathetic fallacy and juxtaposition. Give children more time to finish and redraft at the end of the week.
4 lesson building up to writing an argument for or against animals in zoos. Including grammar lesson.
Can be used alongside Eye of the Wolf text or with out.
