Learn Those Number Facts 9 is a PDF booklet resource of challenges and activities and games all linked to mastering the addition and subtraction facts of 9. As teachers we often spend time on the facts of 10 but it is essential that children secure the facts of other numbers too. This booklet was designed after planning a unit of work on learning number facts for a year 1 class, and it contains a range of carefully considered activities that hit different aspects of the conceptual understanding of addition and subtraction facts. The Sorting Cards are fab for independent practice and developing the language of addition and subtraction.<br /> This book is also useful for intervention work with year 3 children who are not yet secure with their number facts.

A simple game to consolidate recall of facts to 20, using 1 - 10 cards and a game board. Competitive and fun - the children love playing this four in a line game. If you use the, 'if its your go , you are talking' approach, playing games is a really good way to develop maths language. <br /> Instead of using counters, you could photocopy a smaller version of the board to stick in the children's books. They could try to make a track right across the board instead of connecting four squares.<br />
