French tenses sheet - endings and formation of the key 6 tenses

(0)
Amazing for encouraging accuracy and independence in students of French. There are the endings for the regular: present, perfect, imperfect, near future, simple future and conditional with brief instructions for how to form them. There's a pronouns box too for when students forget! My classes from y8 upwards are very comfortable with using this sheet now, after I spent a few lessons going through one tense at a time, doing some practice with students using the sheet to find the endings. I also combined it with another resource (Tense recognition sheet) where students used the Essential sheet to recognise tenses. Even if you haven't gone through a tense before, the sheet gives risk-taking students access to give it a try!

French tense recognition sheet

Very useful for students to recognise regular French tenses, to build them up to forming the tenses accurately. I use it in conjunction with another resource (French tenses sheet) and students look at the endings and see if there is an infinitive to then identify which tense it is. Then they translate the phrase. Includes 20 questions - the first 10 are just the pronoun 'je' and the last 10 are other pronouns. On the dotted line they write the tense, and after the equals they write the translation.

Avoir expressions in different tenses questions

Questions practising key avoir expressions in 8 tenses, broken down into components for support. Really good for pushing top end KS4 grammar. Once students have completed ‘avoir de la chance’ they can apply the same rules to the other avoir expressions on the slide. This activity works well with my Essential tenses sheet which encourages independence in students forming tenses.
