All their notes in one place, no more ‘Could you go over the method again’, ‘Can’t find the method’, ‘The method I wrote up doesn’t make sense’… This resource is made up of 35 pages of brief GCSE methods and notes. I have been using them since the introduction of new GCSE specification in 2017, they have been updated in September 2021. The online version is at https://sites.google.com/view/revision-notes/home and the students set a short cut on their phones for easy access. No one, as yet, has notified any errors or omissions, in the unlikely event they have occured please email jforsythe@passion4maths.com

If you are a little jaded with transforming triangles, quadrilaterals, … here is a dog(to go with the cat) to introduce transforming shapes, it makes an entertaining introduction especially if one of the students has a dog and you name it! See also the Cat transformations. And if you are planning for Christmas and Easter already there is a Santa and Easter Bunny too.
The doggies would love a pat, if you have time to review below - thank you. Also, it would be lovely to see some finished work please send to jforsythe@passion4maths.com.

Domain and Range

A colourful worksheet to practise the topic Domain and Range. The first six questions have the domain restricted. The student is also asked to give the equation of the function. The last five questions have no restriction on the domain, the student will need to be familiar with their Maths notation.

An introduction to the OCR Large Data Set. A first lesson for familiarisation and to learn some of the Excel features. (Please note that since November 2020 YouTube have added adverts to some of my videos. This is part of their T&C’s. I provide these videos free of charge and do not get paid anything by YouTube or anyone else. I prefer my students to watch without adverts so you can find an advert free copy on my website here, https://passion4maths.com/resources/new-a-level-coming-soon/large-data-sets-2/large-data-set-edexcel/ Apologies for the inconvenience.)

Hope you enjoy this resource. There are two levels; standard(only the positive quadrant) and higher(all four quadrants). There are two challenges at each level - SPOILER ALERT(I need to tell you so you can surreptitiously direct the dog and cat lovers to the right one! In my case I would prefer to do challenge 1) Challenge 1 is a dog(23 coordinates) and challenge 2 is a cat(31 coordinates).
A picture of the correct outcome is also provided! How I wish I’d had that when I was in the classroom!!
Resource also tagged to Art for cross curricular, as a student who struggled to draw you can only succeed with this activity.
If you spot any errors please let me know at jforsythe@passion4maths.com

Matrix Transformations Dog

Transforming the dog is great as an enthusiastic starter to a lesson on Matrix Transformations. Alternatively give each student a copy of the file and let them investigate the different transformations. They will also learn about Excel. If you have cat lovers, see the separate resource. If you are teaching at Christmas or Easter, there is also a transformation Santa and Bunny! beats just using the unit square.

Particularly like this resource as it leads students to substitute positive values into the equation first! Saves all those worried looks when they set off and struggle with negative substitution. Negative substitution has been highlighted in RED to alert the student to take care. Visual answers are also provided.
