<p>This is for a student’s first attempt at media textual analysis. I’m currently teaching a core Media curriculum to Year 9, before they select their final options, and so this introduces them to denotation and connotation after studying the four key concepts (Language/Institutions/Audience?Representation).<br /> This is at least two lessons worth of work: the setting up of the task, the writing of it and the marking. The AQA criteria has been used from the new spec and could be used for peer / self-assessment. There are also some ideas and pointers as to what to look for in the printed adverts.</p>
