<p>Based on the short nature documentary by David Attenborough, this 9-lesson unit for Y5/6 focuses on animal chases, in particular, an edge-of-your-seat chase between an iguana and killer snake.<br /> Children begin by exploring and watching animal chases, before doing some sentence work (Jane Considine style) around using senses, feelings, similes, metaphors, repetition, onomatopoeia and punctuation. Children then plan and write their own imaginary, descriptive animal chase in a similar style where the underdog escapes.<br /> All screenshots to support learning are included.</p>
