This is an activity for EYFS or FS2. The idea is that after an input about chicks and eggs and how they hatch, the children should be able to with little support or independently order the life-cycle of a chick (cut and stick in correct order) and write a simple sentence to go along side each image.

Correct order…

Egg

Hatching

Chick

Chicken

U EW and UE - a story sound spotting activity

(0)

This is a story with the resemblance of Goldilocks and the three bears but with different characters. Ewan and the unicorns is a story filled with UE, U and EW sounds for children to identify. I made this resource for a phonics lesson where I demonstrated to children how to hunt for things in a text. The children had one copy between two and used highlighters to find any words with the U, UE and EW sounds in. They were asked to write a list of these words they had found and as a group we discussed the spelling patterns. This was used as a recap lesson to the ‘U’ sound.
