A lesson introducing anecdotes to help pupils with Paper 2 Question 5. Pupils go through a simple anecdote to a more complex anecdote discussing what makes one version better than the other. Worksheet included too.

Here are few steps which might make the lesson clearer:
-Report on the image they see on the board using 5 sentences
-Models of writing which tell and writing that shows (pupils identify which is stronger and discuss why)
-Essentially the model example is the difference between the DO NOW starting activity and what pupils should achieve by the end of the lesson through the layering. (The grid version is perhaps easier for low ability groups? But layering for HA pupils)
-Pupils take each sentence from DO NOW to improve using the layer grid on the slide. RAG represent how difficult the technique is. I use this as an incentive for my pupils as the more difficult techniques are worth points.
