Year 7 transition lessons 8 (complete unit)

Dear Teachers, this is a set of stand alone lessons introducing reading and writing at secondary level with a focus on what they need to do e.g. build vocabulary for writing and learn reading skills such as inference and quotation selection. Our Year 7 really enjoyed this unit of work and it is easy to adapt/use/follow. It includes a mini assessment too.

This is a resource designed to support student understanding of Paper 1.

Often teaching this can be a dull process as students find it difficult to engage with exam rigour. However, I have tried to make it as useful and clear as possible for students as well as trying to make it more interesting with a range of media.

I have found teaching this or aspects of this to a range of schools (one off revision days) has had positive reviews from students. My school gained 80% pass last year based on real exams (2020 paper used) using 2019 grade boundaries. All English teachers used this set of lessons for Year 11.

It is designed to go over all 5 questions using the 2018 June paper and test students on each question with the 2018 November or any other chosen paper (all on AQA website) so they are mock or exam ready. It can be further enhanced with the use of exampro examples.

It is also Ofsted ready as I have included recapping knowledge and a student curriculum journey.
