This is a self-directed pack which I used for low ability year 9 as a cover lesson. There's more than enough for one lesson and the work doesn't require any previous knowledge of the theme. It includes a range of tasks based on comprehension activities at a basic level and some thinking skills activities. It can either be used as independent learning or can be teacher- led. It’s very straight forward and self-explanatory.

This is a Christmas Quiz using a template from a previous TES resource as a PowerPoint with a blank answer sheet and the all important answers. It usually takes a whole lesson (50 to 60 minutes). Enjoy it with your classes!
This could be used as a 4 or 5 lesson group project at the end of year 9. They need to design and market a Festival to be held in the local area. I've added these as Word docs to enable people to adapt. I normally print the handout on A4 and the map on A3.
