This lesson is aimed towards year 11 and year 13 students organising their revision timetables in preparation for summer exams. It outlines in sequence the process of getting resources together, deciding on the time available for revision, guidance on how to structure this time, and on how to decide what to revise. Also included is a means of recording what is to be revised, and what has been revised.
Ppt pages are set up for printing for students to complete, within the ppt itself.

This resource was used with KS4 students on a ‘collapsed timetable day’ to engage them environmental issues including the impact of plastics, loss of top soil and insects, and climate change. it offers links to online resources, and asks students to summarise points about all topics, and then argue for one of these issues using persuasive writing / presentation. Also suitable for sixth form students.

Inspired by Stephen2107 (Thanks - see his KS4 stickers) - Marking stickers with effort gauge, a punctuation thermometer and space for www, ebi. Set up for Avery 7173 stickers , but just as good on paper with a glue stick to hand.
Just added - www ebi stickers to be used with codes (Set up for Avery 7173 stickers) - write key on board where for example QE means " must explain all quotes and link to point"; write QE in book, student writes sentence in book themselves in standout colour. Makes students engage with feedback, and save teachers time.
(not my idea - inspired by image on twitter - thanks)
Sat wondering what to do for your last English lesson of the year? Got to be subject related work but also christmassy? Me too. Try this - short story competition based on Krampus - ancient twin to Saint Nicholas who punishes bad children while Santa Claus gives presents to the good. Youtube has video trailers for new Krampus film but 15 certificate.
Includes info re short stories, info re Krampus including images- and certificate for best short story in the class.
ppt assembly - revising british values, explaining tolerance - and then linking to IS situation in Paris.
Please give feedback as difficult subject to deliver sensitively
This is the final version I used with sixth form students - also edited in response to feedback (thank you)]
hope it's useful
engaging assembly with audience participation; first slides - rhetoric, explain key points by explaining what not going to explain ...
Slide 4 - audience participation to show benefits of PA - in pairs students alternate speaking numbers 1 - 5; once can do this, substitute numbers for physical actions ie Mo farah M, U Bolt's Bolt, wriggle like the Olympic Flame - 1 at a time.
Ask for reflection or share observation, students smiling and laughing, red faces, more energy and engagement, from 3 minutes of exercise
