They engaged with it and loved the topic about the samurai. It covers 13 weeks of work and it meets objectives from the history, geography and literacy curriculum (2013). In this topic your class will learn about: the country of Japan and it’s culture the history of Japan including the era of the Samurai a geographical study of Japan including earthquakes and natural disasters

This resource is a medium term plan covering 7 weeks for Year 6 but it could be adapted for other age groups. This assembly for KS2 relates to the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb by Howard Carter. Indiana Jones begins the assembly. Although some pupils will know the character, the resource can be adapted to introduce more contemporary explorers, fictional or real who your pupils may relate to more readily. The songs are available on the internet. There are of course other musical choices you could choose, either from your available resources or created by your pupils as part of a cross curricular topic.
