I created this for a weak year 7 group who have clearly forgotten all their yr 6 SATs drilling. The sentences they are asked to find features in, come from ‘A Christmas Carol’ - I think I changed one of th sentences slightly to fit a preposition in

At least one lesson’s worth of material, with differentiated tasks including factual information and language analysis. Written for a group studying the collection of poems in the AQA anthology.

A complete description written against WJEC/Eduqas criteria. The piece uses a range of techniques and vocabulary. A good example to share with pupils as an example; assess with pupils and improve with pupils (for example by adapting sentences)

This lesson is aimed at a low ability GCSE class to teach and support writing an answer to the AQA structure question. It is fully differentiated with the same task provided along with different levels of help. Scaffolding is also provided.

Print slides 8-11 as worksheets, choosing those appropriate for your learners.

Students have a grid with the start of a quotation. They have to complete the quotation and name the poem. The final column asks them to give a letter from the title or poet’s name; when they unscramble the letters in the final column, they spell paper 2. Winners can receive a prize if that’s what you want to do!

Answers included on page 1. Handouts for students on page 2

Of all the Literature tasks, the OCR question for section A of paper 1 has been the hardest for teachers to source. If you’ve had a similar frustration, then this resource will be very useful and a great time saver.

Laid out as it would be in the exam, this resource includes the comparison question with another 20th century extract as well as a similarly themed question B.

This lesson can be used as a stand alone or as a follow on from my previous two lessons on emotive language and structure. This is a ready-to-use lesson with a great visual worksheet (includes teacher copy and two further versions for easy differentiation)

Another comparison question for OCR Literature question 1a - ridiculously hard to resource, this is the second practice question I’m making available to help prepare your pupils for the comparison question on paper 1 of the Literature paper
