I have added some songs to the Gruffalo. They are ROCK classics. You can find backing tracks and lyrics sort of karaoke on Youtube. (There is a link on the script) These are relatively simple songs and your children will have fun singing and if possible playing along. I share out the narrator parts to give more children a speaking role. I have done this in assembly quite a few times now, always seems to go down well it takes about 15-20 mins.
A rhyming poem which you can change (drop down boxes) to see how different words fit. The children can do this individually if you download the file and can put it on a computer they have access to. Or it can be used as a way of starting the lesson to give them ideas before the children try by themselves. Does not work with older versions of Word.
This is a worksheet which plots Santa's Journey around the world. The children must work out what the temperature was in each city he visited by usinh a line graph. There are some thermometers to colour in and an extension activity with a map and some questions. Have Added a pdf in case you have format issues.
An activity for the whiteboard or individual students. Designed to help them identify verb tenses. There is also a paper copy. The children need to decide which verb tense is being used and insert or write the anwser.
2 Worksheets which allow the children to retrieve information from bar charts and then anwser questions using the information.<br />
<br />
Sheet 2 is more complicated than the first.<br />
<br />
Also has some questions involving fractions.<br />
<br />
Note: This was based on a work I found on Primary Resources then adapted to my group, thanks to the person who posted it on Pri. Res.
This is an activity to get the children to think about how they measure things. There are oppportunities to use multiplication and division. This can be done without Hula Hoops but my children found it much more fun using and then eating the crisps. You need about two packets per group.
This is short play I did with my class. I made some boxes for the children who were characters from the game. The whole class took part and everybody sang. Took about a week to learn, but we were very short on time.<br />
<br />
There are some songs with backing tracks and words on the youtube film. I played the film on a projector while the children did the play.<br />
<br />
The script will need a bit of adapting to suit your class.<br />
<br />
The children really enjoyed taking part and the parents were very complimentary afterwards.<br />
<br />
Hope this is helpful.<br />

It is a loosely centred around Greek myths. We had fun making it and I thought it could be used to give children ideas and help with grammar skills.<br />
(My son wants lots of views and likes please help!!)<br />

Hope this is useful.<br />
This can be a quiz or group activity. (Year 4 upwards) The object is to solve 16 puzzles to stop the Evil Mastermind stealing happiness from the world. The puzzles are Maths, English or logic based. The PDF includes an answer sheet and a clue sheet that is needed to solve some of the puzzles. If all the puzzles are solved the children are given a choice about the best way to treat the Evil Mastermind. This should lead to an interesting discussion about good and bad and crime and punishment.
