Edexcel iGCSE French Paper 2 Q8 Practice

(1)

Contains three practice questions. A custom-written, differentiated resource (with mark schemes) to work on Edexcel iGCSE French (from 2017) Paper 2, Question 8. This is the grammar “gap-fill” exercise.

Note that, unlike the actual exam question (which is for all candidates, at the end of Paper 2), I have differentiated each of the practice questions to target particular CWAGs/Target Grades. I have done this in order to boost confidence (going from Practice 1 to Practice 2, for example), but also in order that the activity can be expanded upon: maybe to feature some highlighting of verbs/subjects etc and a good segue into some of the trickier grammar points at the appropriate level. Could be used as a starter or spread across a whole lesson for revision.

I couldn’t find any of these resources anywhere for iGCSE French, so decided to put one together myself. Feedback most welcome. Many thanks!

SHORT STORY MINI SCHEME OF WORK (3 LESSONS) FOR YEAR 9S

Suitable for mixed ability or banded groups

Contains ideas to adapt lessons for A level students

Focuses on one of the diverse short stories within EMC’s Iridescent Adolescent collection

Contains ‘Teacher’s Notes’

This resource contains three lessons (which can be made into four lessons, if desired), aimed at mixed ability (or banded) Year 9 students who are going on to study GCSE or iGCSE English. The lessons could also be adapted for A level teaching or can be made more difficult for high achievers - I have given a couple of ideas for this within the Powerpoint, labelled clearly as ‘STRETCH/A LEVEL LESSON OPPORTUNITY’.

‘Areas’ covered within this sequence of lessons:

Story openings

Genre

Imaginative writing

Themes

Plot

Structure

Inference/interpretation

The story ‘Iridescent Adolescent’, by Phoebe Roy, can be found in English and Media Centre’s publication by the same name, Iridescent Adolescent, which is a collection of diverse short stories.

The resource is in the form of a Powerpoint which is ready to go! Teacher’s notes are within the Powerpoint, both within the ‘Notes’ pane and on some hidden slides.

If you like this resource, please leave a review.
