Child Development Resources

(12)
Some pictures of childrens toys to spark discussion and an odd one out activity - the pupils have to say how old the child is which is being described and which trait would not be shown by them.

Space Exploration Debate and Self-Assessment

(5)
This is a resource I created for my Btec science class but could be adapted for use elsewhere. The PowerPoint gives some basic info on NASA and the cost of space exploration (I used videos from YouTube of the spaceship crash). There are some exemplar materials which the pupils assess, then created marking criteria. They used this to assess and improve their work. I've included the criteria which my class wrote as an example.

Energy and Electricity Project Booklet

(5)
This is a project booklet which pupils used to help them design a houes. They completed a project over a few weeks where they had to complete the tasks within the book and build a model house which was as energy efficient as possible. They then had to present their house to the class and were graded on their ability to present and explain their ideas scientifically. I did this with a year seven class who did struggle with a couple of bits but it can always be tweaked to suit.

Alcoholic Drinks Pictures

(8)
Pictures of a selection of alcoholic drinks. I have laminated these, then put them randomly up on the board. Pupils are asked to arrange them in order of the amount of alcohol contained in each drink. They can also place in order of calorific content or use as a 'play your cards right' game. Answers are given.

Menstrual Cycle Activities

(3)
Menstrual cycle cut and stick activity for pupils to order. I've also included a set of labels - I ask pupils to draw a timeline of the menstrual cycle with a diagram of the uterus wall and add the labels to this. A little advanced for most GCSE pupils but may be useful for those doing triple science.
