Reception (aged 4-5) Red word recognition game

PowerPoint document

‘Bang’ is a fun red-word recognition game. Can be played with a single child or in a large group.

Children are shown each word at a time with gradually increased speed. They need to read each word aloud and when the ‘bang’ card is shown, they shout “BANG!” The aim is for children to be able to quickly recognise and read each word shown.

With regular practice, children begin to recognise these red words in reading books.

This resource can be edited to include red words more suited to your child’s current learning.
