Year 6 Reading Observation. Use context to determine word meaning. Active word trail and power point

(1)
. This is what I used with my year 6 class for a reading observation.
. There are two differentiated word trails.
The purple trail (average level) and the green trail (lower ability trail) as well as some yellow challenge cards.
. The trails (information points) can be put up around you classroom/ school for the children to find.
. Next to the information point goes the corresponding question (what does the word... mean).
(The children have to scan the text for the word then read around it to determine the meaning by referring to the context.)
. Power point to use at the beginning of the lesson included.
. An exciting viking theme.
