This is a small bundle of resources that I made whilst teaching 'A Single Man' by Christopher Isherwood. There is little to no resources online for this text so I hope that you find these helpful.
A GCSE focused PPT that introduces students to the idea of language and structure in an extract. I did this with Y9 as an introduction to the EDEXCEL Language Paper. Extract in also included - no copyright infringement intended.
A nice PPT and extract which could cover a lesson. Short bio on some characters and further exploration into significance of characters. PPT has stucture/ideas for 3 PEEL paragraphs and the extract is included.
Paper One Section A. Extract included as well as a PPT that guides students through the questions and shows example paragraphs, the requirements of each question as well as a list of language/structural features to revise. I have made the questions up to accompany the extract and it is 2-sided to save printing!

Designed for AQA
A clear and organised SOW to be used with KS3 or a lower ability KS4 class.

The tasks are independent but have detailed PowerPoints and Worksheets which accompany them.

This unit is designed to work with Google Classroom, though you can easily edit and adapt it to suit your schools’ requirements.

All lessons and PowerPoints divided up and labelled.

A 68 slide PPT which guides students through Section A of this paper with the overall link made to the Royal Family:

Harry and Meghan

Piers Morgan

Princess Diana

Queen Victoria and Albert

The Crown

This would be suitable for in-person teaching or for remote learning.

I do not claim rights to any externally linked resources and/or clips.

Enjoy :)

A basic PPT which looks at the new 9-1 grading for English GCSE. I found this helpful with younger students and showed it on IWB prior to, and after, assessments. By no means is it perfect, but it did help me and my students!
Thorough PPT with information gathered from other TES members and their presentations. I think this is a comprehensive PPT and includes links to further analysis. No copyright infringement intended.
Two nice PPTs that introduce students to the study of Travel Writing. Includes a descriptive writing task and a brochure presentation with some prompts to help students.
A bundle of resources I made for the teaching of this play. One PPT will guide the entire Act 1. There are also 2 PPTs that act as an introduction prior to reading - context and author information. Also included are questions to accompany Act 1 and Act 2 as well as a character grid. Hope these help!

A short but fun lesson that outlines the different Zodiac signs and challenges students to make links with characters - ideally students will do some IT research prior to this lesson, and be prepared to feedback ideas. Google Classroom activity referenced at the end can be adapted to whatever platform you use.

The resources included should cover 3-4 lessons of creative and engaging work. The objective is that the students work in groups to pitch ideas for a new modern production of Macbeth. I have included an introductory PPT, a brief letter and a very short PPT which asks the students to write a persuasive speech once finished with presentations. This is ideal for anyone who has finished the play and wants some creativity, someone who would like to embed S&L in their lessons or someone who is just looking to do something different. I also showed my class some clips from Dragon’s Den which is available on Youtube, and we discussed the AQA Spoken Endorsement Criteria (Self-review sheet also included). This is great for consolidating knowledge of the plot, but also for S&L and some fun!

A detailed introduction with contextual notes and a breakdown of the play with images from the 1993 movie adaptation. Good for first few lessons prior to studying play or to accompany active viewing of the film.

Two revision sheets which simplify the instructions from AQA for the new English 9-1. Assessment objectives clearly outlined visually for ease of revision. Preview may look askew, but format fixes itself when downloaded.
