Poetry: Myths and Legends

(0)
A Key Stage 3 PowerPoint teaching resource which explores a number of different ballads and the surrounding myths and legends. A number of extracts are included, but this can be adapted to suit different ballad poems, for example, ‘The Lady of Shalott’ at the beginning of the unit. The resource looks at the ballad form; the history of the English Language and then focuses in on extracts from ‘Beowulf’ and ‘Sir Gawain and the Green Knight’. A number of Youtube clips are included and activities can be adapted: some include designing heraldry; writing and advert for a knight and writing your own ballad!
