<p>For World Book Day 2020, the school I work at decorated the doors of each of the classrooms to celebrate and share our favourite book with the children. As a result, my door was decorated as the book cover of ‘Oh the places you’ll go’ by Dr Suess. I made signs, lettering and an activity to accompany this day. The lettering is the exact lettering that the publishers use for all Dr Suess books too! When you buy this, you will recieve the lettering and the signs.</p> <p>Just some extra idea:</p> <p><em>To bring my door display to life, I bought some paper air balloons (which had paper baskets) and took a photo of the children in groups of 5 and stuck them into the baskets. It did look very cool! I also made flum flum trees by using pipe cleaners for the trunks and pompom (pulled apart) as the flum.</em></p>

<p>Here is a range of morning work activities that the children in my class usually do in their morning work books. You will receive over 50 different types of task focused on maths of literacy aimed at either EXS or GDS in Year 2.</p>

<p>A reading comprehension activity to develop the skills of inference and retrieval. This is a activity which will ensure the children comprehend what they are reading to match the description to the characters.</p>

It goes through the progression from Year 1 to Year 3 to cater for the children who are still catching up from the implications of Covid-19 and my gifted children. It uses Learning Targets (learning objectives) to break down the concept and uses a child friendly layout.</p>

<p>In this unit of work the children wrote an adventure story. When you buy this unit, you will receive a brief planning grid and some of the resources for the lessons. One of the lessons involve dilemma cards which can be found on Twinkl.</p>

<p>Here is an Excel which I have added to over time. It holds all of the Year 1 and 2 common exception spellings that Year 2 children must know on transitioning upto LKS1. It also has a sheet which contains the Year 3 common exception spellings for those high flyers who are already confidently and consistently achieving the KS1 words.</p>

<p>This resource is a medium term planning document that I wrote for Year 2 this year around our topic, Time Detectives. It has all National Curriculum subjects for the term written in depth with Learning Targets (objectives), Cultural capital, essential knowledge, differentiation and vocabulary clearly listed. A lot of this planning is hands on and enquiry based but most worksheets that I have made for this unit of work can be bought for £1 each from my shop.<br /> I hope you enjoy flicking through!</p>
