Stone Age Boy 3 Week English and SPAG planning

(0)

I have put together a three week plan using the text Stone Age Boy. I have used some ideas from other resources found online and some of my own. Hopefully by putting this altogether into one document it will help to follow.
The main pieces of writing towards the end are a postcard and alternative ending but the first two weeks look at lots of SPAG including contrasting conjunctions, prepositions, direct speech, verbs and adjectives.
I hope this is helpful.

I used these in my Year 1 class, sending them as home learning. The children would be given target sounds that they need to focus on. Once they can confidently read all the words, they would send them in to be given a new one. These could also be used in class. Great preparation for the phonics screening test.

Word or number of the day Year 4

All about a word or number…
I used this activity as part of my guided reading rotation but could also be a morning starter? I would give the children a word or number to complete the activity sheet about. Helps with dictionary skills and revisiting key skills in Maths and English.

Times table challenge booklets

Four booklets for your children to work through, building on accuracy and speed of their tables. The booklets are set out so that when printed, they are the correct order back to back. Each booklet covers a group of tables. My class loved the challenge of working through the booklets and ticking them off on the record card.

Presentation, writing loyalty reward cards

Stick these ‘loyalty cards’ inside your class’ English books and use them as motivation for children to use neat presentation and put in their best effort with their writing. My class loved earning stamps and rewards and they really improved the standard of work. I used them in Year 4 but could be used for any age.
