War Horse Complete English Scheme **A complete 25 lesson scheme including lesson plans, powerpoints, written models, supports, prompts and questions for War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. Suitable for Y5/Y6. ** Comprehensive resources include: 25 lesson plans 25 powerpoints to support delivery Discussion questions and model answers for each chapter of the story Additional resources including written models, writing prompts & scaffolds to support Over the course of 25 lessons, students will read and reflect on War Horse by Michale Morpurgo. They will have regular opportunities for class and partner discussions to extend their understanding of the story. Students will take part in exploratory writing such as predicting events, summarising chapters, mapping character emotions, character role on the walls, comparing texts about war and practicing different creative writing structures. Students will plan, write, reflect and improve on extended writing opportunities such as a diary entry as Albert, letter home from the perspective of a soldier, describing a battle-scene, creative piece building sympathy for Joey, narrative of events from Frederich’s perspective, information text about the use of horses in World War One and a poem showing an emotional response. Lessons for a starter, input, independent work & plenary structure. Prompts and answers for the starters and plenaries are provided. The complete scheme will take 5 - 7 weeks to complete.
