Settlement Game

(25)
Teams are required to design their own town/city. taking consideration of all the factors required for a good sustainable living space. This resource is based on some rather dusty old cards I found at the back of a retired teachers cupboard. Played it with the students and added the changes they felt was needed! What I thought would be just a lesson ended up taking at least 4 as the students were really into it and some great learning about settlements was had. please leave feedback as it makes it worth while adding free resources.

Desert Game

Hi made this desert game, with lots of pitfalls and fun, hopefully it will engage your students, as I know my students love a game plus it teaches them about sharing and taking turns, whilst learning at the same time. Please comment on how useful this is. Also I have made this up and do not think I have pinched anyone's ideas if I have then I am sorry

Christmas on the front line

I made this last year for an end of term piece of work, the students ready enjoyed it and it was much better than watching half a DVD. Making letters or christmas cards from the front line, some of the students really went to town sewing pictures for the cards/letters, tea stained paper was also easy to prepare before the lesson as well.

Who would live in a house like this?

Lesson that was used for OFSTED, got outstanding! Students have to select the different house types for the different people. They also need to justify their choices. I then move on to the settlements game, which I have also uploaded to use

SMSC Audit Staff Training

Useful for anyone who is asked to do audit and staff training on SMSC. You will need to change some of it for your setting, but it will give you an idea of how to map SMSC across the school.
I have used various resources from the web and therefore can not claim ownership of everything on here.

Writing template

I designed this for my students with autism, who struggle to answer the functional skills questions. Especially when they have no opinion on the task. Example you need to write to the local newspaper about the closure of the park. Student response “I really care, as I don’t use parks” So they have to write the little blue mans opinion.
Once the students have worked out what they are going to say/write about they can then write the letter using the template as a guide.

Beach Snap Cards

I made these for my SEN class to play in pairs, students need to shout out the name of the object on each card, to help with processing speed. As well as the word snap! Also can be played as the game pairs, all the cards are laid face down and students take it in turns to find the pairs, to aid memory skills.
