UPDATED RESOURCE
This resource introduces the ‘Innovating for the future’ topic for the 2021 British Science week.

My intro presentation act like an assembly to give the students the ‘buzz’ to engage the students. In this presentation I have included STEM attributes and some STEM careers, this leads into the ideas of ‘Innovations’.

I have also included the ‘Challenge’ Presentation which incorporates some of the ideas from the BSW21 pack. (for me this will be the start of lesson 2…)

We will be running Science week completly remotely this year as most of our students will be at home. So with this in mind I have chosen activities that are accessible at home.

I have developed these resources with the plan to launch them to our KS3 students. My primary plan was to stimulate some ‘innovations’ and to get the students to think about developing an amazing idea that they may have (worksheet included- probably best on A3).

You will need to download the activity packs from the BSW website

Used for Exploring Science unit 8F practical on chemical reactions (testing their observations) Updated in 2017.
Allows students to identify whether a chemical reaction has taken place by making observations and noting them down on the worksheet.
Includes pupil worksheet and bench cards (with new style hazard symbols on) to lay out in the lab with the practical resources
I ran this activity as an experiment circus and laminated the bench cards for use in the future. For large classes it may be worth having two set running together. It is useful to have a lot of test tubes available.
four powerpoints to get started the topic started
Presentation with LO and question/activity (not making direction) at the end.
1st Powerpoint goes through the basic meanings of eukaryotes and prokaryotes, structure of a cell. 2nd Powerpoint is linked to ultrastructure and goes through the functions of the parts. Table task to complete and some summary questions with answers.
3rd Powerpoint relates to cell specialisation
4th Powerpoint- magnification and resolution
Simple sorting activity that could be used as a review or for revision
Identifies characteristics that happens to boy, girls and both at puberty
print onto card (I print on several colours so if cards fall on the floor they can be put into the correct packet quickly!)

A PowerPoint that can be used as a lesson resource.
No starter activity.
Includes links from Exploring Science online resource and similar YouTube links.
Developing and Securing pupil activities.

A resources that can be used as a summary to the unit for revision.

Currently on A4 size but better printed onto A3
