This resource introduces Trestle Mask theatre/drama to KS3 students in a fun and chunked down way. <br /> <br /> Each lesson builds upon the next and is accessible by teachers through colour coordinated slides to show each different lesson, a brief summary of the content of the lesson at the start of each one and an explanation of the tasks in the notes section. <br /> <br /> The PowerPoint is visual and colourful to motivate the students and encourages students to engage with the work. There are games to focus and develop skills of the students whilst alongside practical work that enhances the movement and non-verbal skills of the students.

This presentation introduces A Level students to key practitioners associated with Rambert Dance Company between 1996-2002 and explores the stylistic features of their works.<br /> <br /> The specifications states that Rambert Dance Company is a compulsory Area of Study and that students should be able to answer questions based on their understanding of 3 practitioners (including Bruce) and their works, including knowledge of their movement style. <br /> <br /> The presentation includes a timeline with key dates from 1966-2002 (with slides to print off for students to fill in the gaps), information about the practitioners stylistic features and an example exam question at the end for students to attempt once they have explored these practitioners. This PowerPoint quizzes students on key practitioners and dates related to Rambert Dance Company between 1966 and 2002. <br /> <br /> The questions have come from presentations that my students have created so you may want to add more questions based on practitioners not mentioned in this resource. All answers are below in the notes section of the slides.<br /> <br /> It aims to test the students knowledge whilst trying to engage them in the theory side of the course which is 50% of their A Level.

A whole Scheme of Learning exploring the key aspects of Melodrama for Key Stage Three. <br /> <br /> This PowerPoint follows half a terms worth of lessons (at least 6) and guides students through the origins of Melodrama whilst encouraging them to develop characterisation and performance skills. <br /> <br /> As well as developing dramatic skills, this SOL aims to enhance the confidence and passion for Drama in our students by making it engaging and accessible.

This PowerPoint covers the general background and history of Rambert Dance Company. This is to give students a basic understanding of the compulsory Area of Study for the AQA A Level specification. <br /> <br /> As well as (referenced) information, there are slides to test the knowledge of the students to help them remember key datas and names associated with the company. There are AQA specification example questions included so that students can attempt to answer them whilst learning about the key artistic directors and influential techniques that helped shaped the company. Tasks have also been included to break down the heavy information that the students must learn. These tasks include two assignments that could be used for home learning and encourage independent learning.<br /> <br /> This presentation can be used to introduce the compulsory Area of Study and help to familiarise students with key dates and names before going into depth on the three practitioners that must be studied in association with Rambert Dance Company.

This PowerPoint has been created for KS3 classes to enable them to understand and engage in the devising process whilst learning about the style of Physical Theatre. It also teaches students about different types of stimuli and how to work from them (feel free to adapt these to suit the class' interests/ abilities).<br /> <br /> This SOL enables students to make their own decisions about the structure and content of their work through exploring different stimuli and being allowed to create and take risks. It also develops their performance skills and understanding of different styles. <br /> <br /> The lessons cover half a terms worth of work (7 lessons minimum but it could easily be extended).<br /> <br /> Each lesson has a slide at the start, summarising the content of each lesson for teachers and students. Information and guidance on how to deliver the lesson is in the notes section of the PowerPoint. There is also a milestone at the end of the SOL for 'testing' students work and progress.

This presentation looks at Richard Alston's choreographic approach.<br /> <br /> The new AQA specification states that you need to look at two practitioners, in addition to Christopher Bruce, and know and understand their choreographic approach in relation to the compulsory Area of Study. <br /> <br /> This presentation looks at Alston's choreographic approach which includes: movement style, choreographic style and technique. It also includes tasks which encourage independent learning (practical and theoretical).<br /> At the end of the presentation are some of the specification's example examination questions for students to attempt. <br /> <br /> I am currently working on a Siobhan Davies presentation as these are the two practitioners that we have chosen to study alongside Bruce. These resources are works in progress and will be adapted in time but I hope that it is a useful and accessible starting point.

This is a scheme of learning for a year 8 class, however it could be used for KS3 and KS4. It explores the extracts and themes from William Shakespeare's play 'Macbeth' through drama and design. <br /> <br /> This PowerPoint consists of 7 weeks worth of lessons, including worksheets, commentary on how to access the lessons (in the notes section) and a milestone examination at the end of the SOL. <br /> <br /> The overall learning objectives are: To know key scenes from the play Macbeth<br /> To be able to present a costume and set design for a performance of Macbeth.<br /> <br /> This SOL was created to introduce students to other aspects of Drama and engage them with Shakespearean text whilst preparing them for the OCR GCSE specification in Drama and Theatre Studies. This could be used to introduce the basic skills in theatre design for GCSE or BTEC courses. <br /> <br /> The PowerPoint aims to visually engage students throughout their learning and provide opportunity for discussion, analysis and reflection alongside exploration and creative opportunities.

This resource can be used to help breakdown and explain the expectations of the Edexcel, Unit 4, Section A exam.<br /> <br /> Students can use this to practise writing their answers for Section A to help them structure their answers clearly.<br /> <br /> I have printed off and laminated the resource for students to keep and refer to throughout the year.
