A guided assessment of language analysis created for KS3 with an extract from 'Life of Pi'. This booklet includes the marking grid, sentence structure guidance, a model answer, space for students to write their own response and then a peer assessment sheet. There are three files differentiated for lower ability, middle ability and higher ability.

A series of lessons suitable for teaching, consolidating knowledge and then assessment of act 1 scene 5, Romeo and Juliet. Included is a range of resources as well as assessment support including sentence starters. Lessons cover key quotations from the scene and key techniques used.

Two A3 sheets designed to support GCSE English Literature students looking at the presentation of Nurse in Act 2 of Romeo and Juliet. The first sheet is an activity to consolidate learning of act two. The second is an exam style planning activity, encouraging students to acknowledge AO1, AO2 and AO3 in response to an exam question - the nurse as irresponsible.

This is a full scheme of lessons with high quality resources, full assessments, peer and teacher assessment sheets for marking as well as several observation standard lessons. This has been designed to be taught to year 8 but could easily be adapted or applied to any year group. This scheme has been created to teach KS3 the skills required for the new AQA GCSE Language Paper One. Therefore, I have used a variety of gothic texts and extracts to teach the skills required for questions one to five from that specific paper. This includes identifying implicit and explicit information, analysing language techniques, analysing structure and structural techniques, creating an argument as well as creative writing including writing to describe and writing a narrative. I have also focused on teaching how to explore effects of specific techniques rather than general analysis.

Two guided assessments, used as a mid-topic test for my year 9 group studying language paper 2 on the new AQA specification. This sheet provides two non-fiction extracts and offers some guidance including planning grids and sentence starters for question one to three covering the following skills: identifying implicit and explicit information, summary skills and language analysis. As an extension task there is also a section B style question relevant to the two non-fiction extracts provided.

Planning grid can be used for effective planning of exam style questions for the English Literature exam. Includes a break down of the key elements which should be included in their essays and should support students who are new to literature or lower ability students with how to structure their writing.

This has been designed for the new GCSE English Literature Specification and covers the content of the play as well as assessment. The resources are high quality and aimed to be delivered over the course of a term roughly.

This is designed to be delivered in ‘lecture’ format as a key revision tool for year 10 or 11 students approaching their exam. It covers everything from key quotes, thematic analysis, character analysis, overview of acts, contextual links and opportunity for independent revision tasks to be completed. There are two files included: The teacher version of the lecture with extra notes filled in. Student booklet ready to print - used for students to fill in throughout the lecture/lesson. The entire lesson would take around 3 hours.

Created for year 9 in preparation for studying AQA GCSE English Language - focus on key creative writing skills including the use of figurative language, cinematic writing and paying attention to specific emotive language when writing. Included is an accompanying planning sheet. A variety of interactive methods included to support learning with at least 3 hours of material.

One sheet is focused on excitement and one focused on Hyde being a frightning outsider. Encourages students to acknowledge AO1, AO2 and AO3 within their writing. Good for students new to literature.
