This lesson has worked extremely well with both my year 12 and 13 students. The lesson looks at key features of essay writing such as structure, use of high level connectives, embedding evidence and analytical verbs. A detailed and fully resourced lesson introducing students to the Paris anthology. Resource will probably span over three single lessons. Lesson focuses on introducing students to the multi-faceted nature of Africa and looks at the dangers of stereotyping. The introduction is a quiz centred on establishing students’ prior knowledge of the continent and their perceptions of Africa. Main activity encourages students to work in groups and research into different African countries. The lesson is versatile and can be used across a range of subjects.
