Artist of the Week

(37)
This is my Artist of the Week resource which I do at the end of each day. There is a 39 page Powerpoint with information about each artist/band, a suggested song list for each artist & a recording sheet for the children. We pick an artist on Monday from a jar. Then we learn about the person using the PPT and listen to a song a day for a week. It’s up to the children how they record their responses - some write an adjective to describe their thoughts, some do a colour key & colour the box in. If you are downloading my free resource, please consider donating a book to my school. Find my amazon wishlist on my twitter @CassHT The fonts on the PPT are downloaded to my computer so they will appear differently on your screen. If you want them, they are Lobster, Ink Free and KG Red Hands and are all downloadable from Dafont.

Let's Talk Books!

(9)
Every Monday, I am going to share a question linked to reading with my class for them to answer. They will write their answers on post it notes and these will be displayed alongside the question in my book corner for the week. We’ll share and discuss our answers too. I’ll collect the answers in on Friday and display a new question the following Monday. There is a question for every week of the academic year! The aim is to encourage book talk outside of reading lessons and ask questions that don’t necessarily have a reading skill focus. I can’t wait to see what their answers will be. A special thank you to @eenalol and @MrHtheteacher on Twitter for all of their fantastic contributions!

This is a short persuasive writing unit linked to the TV show Room 101. It contains a flipchart (that uses Active Inspire), task sheet and example text for the children to analyse before writing their own. It also has links to appropriate snippets of the TV show for them to watch. If the video links don’t work, they are as follows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGnMsMc5764&ab_channel=BBC (Pigeons) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=It2Zc-LpL7o&t=519s&ab_channel=Ovid (NOT Charlie Brooker. Play from 6:40 for Scarlett - crocs- up until 8:40. Then skip to Pearl - mosquitoes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTKJfM9QM18&t=6s&ab_channel=BBC (Emails) Have fun!
