This is a revision session used with year 11’s to consolidate their learning of part 1 of the Changing Economic World unit. This resource runs through the following key ideas and their concepts:

There are global variations in economic development and quality of life

Various strategies for reducing the global development gap. (Focus on Tourism in Jamaica).

The lesson(s) contain slides summarising key themes and concepts mentioned in the specification throughout the two key ideas and uses exam questions to test students’ knowledge. There are opportunities for self and peer assessment throughout. The lesson builds in intensity meaning the exam questions get harder (more marks) the further throughout the lesson you get, allowing for scaffolding of lower ability students.

I have used this with both top and bottom set year 11’s and it has worked very well for both classes. The session ran from 2-4 lessons, depending on lesson time and ability of your group. A great overview!

This is a revision session for the entire AQA Urban Issues and Challenges topic. The pack includes exam questions which run alongside the revision lesson and a 9 marker structure strip to help with the final exam question. There are also opportunities for self and peer assessment throughout.

I used this over the period of 2-3 hours with year 11’s during revision sessions close to the exam. The resource includes slides which provide an overview of a particular area within the GCSE topic specification and an exam question related to that particular topic focus. The exam questions intensify throughout the lesson, ending with a 9+3 mark question. This allows for easy differentiation.

This resource is easily adapted to suit your own case studies. My students found this really helpful in consolidating their learning of the topic from year 10.
