Based on the TV show Blockbusters. Learners should play in pairs. One of the pair should try to make a chain from top to bottom, the other should try to make a chain from side to side. Each block contains a letter or letters which is a key word or phrase from the topic. Statements to go with each of the letters are to be found on the right hand side of the sheet. Learners should colour the block (and could write the answer in) when they get the answer right. First in the pair to make the chain wins.

Sharing this as a resource you might want to use for KS3 science as a standalone or as part of a topic on light. I’ve tied it in with wellbeing and the use of rainbows as symbols of hope during the coronavirus pandemic. It explains in a simple way how refraction and dispersion of light through water droplets allows us to see rainbows and there’s a simple chromatography activity at the end. I’m adding a google quiz on the key terms and concepts for my group.

A to Z Key Word Starter

Suitable for all age groups and subjects. Learners could work alone or in pairs / teams to think of key words from the topic or previous lesson that start with each letter of the alphabet. They may not be able to find a word for all of the letters of the alphabet but you could set a time limit and see who can get the most in the time. Sorry for the quality of the image. It's a photo of the document on my computer screen. The worksheet itself is much better quality.
